HERE
Every year, roughly a quarter of Evanston high school
students do not attend college. Many more go to college but don’t complete a degree. This leaves a sizable number
of young people in our community without a career path.
Meanwhile, there is a critical shortage of workers as electricians, plumbers, welders, mechanics and other skilled tradespeople retire.
We see tremendous opportunity to expose young people to
the rich diversity of career options that exist in the trades, and
to partner with a local business community that is eager to nurture new talent.
The Trade Collective is here to shine the light on the many promising career pathways that are available to young people and that do not require a college degree.
